I
was a student of Mechanical Engineering when I first became interested in
health and fitness. At the time I was overweight and generally led an over-indulgent
lifestyle. For a number of years my training was in vain, going to the gym
religiously 3 times per week but never seeing any change in my weight, body
shape or fitness. Then 3 years ago I enrolled on a Fitness Instructor course
at night school. Originally I just wanted to acquire valuable training tools
to apply to my own workouts so that I could begin to benefit from my time
spent in the gym. During the course, my training methods and general outlook
on exercise and diet began to change and I made considerable progress. Upon
completing my Fitness Instructor course I decided to continue for a further
year to complete my Personal Training certification with a view to a career
in Personal Training. By employing the training and nutrition techniques I
have learned from my study, I have not only managed to decrease my weight
and improve my body shape, but have also been able to improve my fitness to
such a degree that I have competed in half marathons and
the London Triathlon (2006).
