Introduction
A food diary can be used to calculate your calorific intake with a reasonable degree of accuracy. In addition you can obtain information to highlight whether or not there are nutritional inbalances in your current diet. The Nutrient Roles section provides information relating to the approximate quantities of each nutrient required for good physical health.
Food Diary Analysis
A food diary analysis is usually carried out over a one week period, as this will generally provide sufficient information to represent eating trends and habbits.
All food and beverages consumed are recorded on a data collection sheet and a detailed analysis is carried out. Recommendations can then be made regarding calorific intake and nutritional composition of foods consumed.
The Meal Planner section provides some basic information on preparing and planning meals to meet calorific and nutritional requirements. This information is generic and not specific to any particular nutritional requirements or individual health related goals.
